Jiangyin Ruihesheng Paper Products Co., Ltd. manufactures multi-compartment clamshell food paper boxes for takeaway, bento, combo and meal-prep programs. Our range divides one meal into two, three, four, five or six sections using folded paperboard dividers instead of plastic inserts, and we run die-cutting, printing, gluing and final inspection inside our own plant as a MULTI-COMPARTMENT CLAMSHELL FOOD PAPER BOX manufacturer.
Founded in 2004, we operate a 15,000 m² production facility on more than 30 mu of land in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, with over 100 automated machines covering paper boxes, cups, bowls, corrugated containers and multi-compartment trays. Multi-compartment clamshell boxes from our lines ship to customers in the USA, France, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and other markets.
Multi-Compartment Clamshell Boxes Built Around the Meal
A divided clamshell keeps a main, a side and a sauce from mixing during transport, which is why the format fits bento sets, combo meals, curated meal boxes, deli plates and meal-prep delivery. Lid and base are formed from a single die-cut blank, so boxes arrive flat, fold without assembly hardware and close with one press.
- Restaurant and deli counter service with fixed portion layouts
- Delivery and third-party courier routes where the lid must stay shut
- Bento, sampler and mezze formats that need visual separation
- Meal-prep and catering programs packing in volume

Material, Barrier and Temperature Performance
Bodies are formed from food-safe paperboard, with FSC certified fibre available across the range. Where a plastic-free barrier is needed, we use algae coating technology instead of PE or PLA lamination, together with plant-based inks, so the finished box remains recyclable and compostable and the barrier system is certified for industrial composting under TÜV.
- Grease and leak resistance for fried, oily and sauce-based fillings
- Microwaveable formats, including the L152 two-way buckle boxes at 900 ml and 1000 ml
- Freezer-friendly storage for chilled and frozen meal programs
- White and brown kraft board, with no plastic window or loose insert
Closure Systems, Leak Control and Stacking
Closure choice follows the fill weight and the delivery route. Standard press closures suit counter service and light fills, while two-way buckle and double-locking designs hold the lid under heavier loads and longer transit. Leak-proof two-grid layouts keep liquid components in their own section.
- Standard clamshell press closure for counter and dine-in service
- Two-way buckle closure on L152 for hot, moist meals
- Double-locking closure on L219 for courier and multi-drop routes
- Flat lid surfaces and consistent base footprints for stable stacking in bags and trays
Printing, Branding and Surface Finishing
We print with flexographic and UV equipment, single-sided or double-sided, in spot colour or four-colour, using water-based ink. Hot stamping, partial UV, embossing and laminating are available for brand programs, and free structural design, rendering and sampling support OEM and ODM projects from concept through to mass production.
Where a box is specified for composting, the surface treatment stays with print, embossing or hot stamping rather than film lamination, so the disposal route and the decoration route remain compatible.
Quality Control and Batch Traceability
Production follows ten controlled stages: raw material procurement, incoming material inspection, paper cutting, die-cutting and forming, printing, die-cutting and moulding, bonding and assembly, finished-goods inspection, packaging, then warehousing and logistics. Finished inspection covers dimensions, strength and print quality before cartons are released.
Our quality system is certified to ISO9001, ISO22000, FSC, BRC and SGS, and we hold international accreditations including SABER, SYDEX, IAF and CNAS. Process controls are documented so quality remains traceable from batch to batch.
Information We Use to Configure Your Solution
A workable configuration starts from the meal itself. The matrix below shows the inputs we work from when preparing a specification, sample and quotation.
| Project input | How it shapes the box |
|---|---|
| Meal composition and number of components | Compartment count and divider geometry |
| Target fill volume per section | Base size, wall depth and capacity class |
| Sauce, gravy or oil content | Barrier grade and leak-control layout |
| Heating and storage route | Microwaveable or freezer-suitable board and coating |
| Closure preference | Standard press, two-way buckle or double-locking |
| Artwork and print coverage | Flexo or UV print, single or double-sided, spot or four-colour |
| Disposal and compliance route | FSC fibre, plastic-free barrier, composting documentation |
| Packing and pallet format | Carton count, flat-pack orientation, pallet pattern |
| Destination market | Labelling, language and market documentation |
Frequently Asked Questions
What capacities and compartment counts can we order?
The range runs from the L150 700 ml three-compartment square box to the L242 2300 ml jumbo square three-compartment box, with two-, three-, four-, five- and six-section layouts in between. Two-compartment formats include the L170 900 ml leak-proof left-and-right split and the L219 1000 ml double-locking box.
Are the boxes microwaveable and freezer-friendly?
Yes. The paperboard is built for hot and cold fill, and the L152 two-way buckle boxes at 900 ml and 1000 ml are specified as microwaveable. Freezer storage is supported for chilled and frozen meal programs.
Do the boxes need a plastic liner or separate insert?
No. Dividers are folded from the same die-cut blank as the lid and base, and the barrier comes from algae coating technology rather than PE or PLA lamination, keeping the box recyclable and compostable.
Can our artwork be printed on the lid?
We print single-sided or double-sided with flexographic and UV equipment in spot colour or four-colour, using water-based ink. Hot stamping, partial UV, embossing and laminating are also available for brand programs.
What do you need to prepare a custom quotation?
Send the meal composition, target fill volume per section, sauce or oil content, closure preference, artwork, disposal route, packing format and destination market. With those inputs we confirm the compartment layout, board and barrier grade, then produce a structural sample for approval before mass production.
How is quality controlled before shipment?
Every batch passes incoming material inspection, in-process checks through cutting, forming, printing and gluing, and finished-goods inspection of dimensions, strength and print quality. Our system is certified to ISO9001, ISO22000, FSC, BRC and SGS, with SABER, SYDEX, IAF and CNAS accreditations held alongside.
